We love to support local businesses at The Wine Wankers, and when this business offers to pop open close to 100 Pinot Noirs for us to taste; well this is difficult to ignore.
Bellevue Hill Bottle Shop is a favorite hunting ground for us, there is nothing quite like finding an unusual bottle hidden in the back that you haven’t tasted before. Most of us have a weakness for something, shoes, chocolate, clothes, however it’s wine that gets us excited every time.
Small independent stores like this face increasing competition from large chain stores, and we think supporting them is essential to ensure we get access to unique experiences like this.
For this annual event the guys from Bellevue Hills have created a real point of difference by allowing would be customers the opportunity to taste an amazing range of Pinot Noir. Adding depth to the variety of wines on offer also presents the customer with an experience that is quite unique, tasting French, German, Australian and Kiwi Pinot Noir side by side, cracking idea.
So why Pinot Noir? We posed this question to the guys “Pinot Noir is the best grape variety in the world, the grape is so magical and intriguing it has been fascinating wine makers for centuries. In fact it has been around since Roman times making it 1,000 years older that Cabernet Sauvignon”. Fair enough, we’re convinced.
So what is on offer you ask? Well the list for this year is a work in progress, however here is a list of what was tasted last year as an indication.

Wow…..that’s a selection! I thought the Ha Ha Pinot was a very clever name. I would buy it just to try it for the name.

What a grand selection, I wouldn’t know where to start. I love the name of the store! I grew up in a small town in Washington State called Bellevue. Of course, now it isn’t so small any more, but still holds interesting memories.

A great local business worthy of support is a new online store Independentwines.com.au, they source most of their wine from small scale wineries with some likely labels thrown in for good measure, good prices too!

We will check it out, cheers.
