Drew is back in Sweden after his trip to the Languedoc in the south of France and I just returned a couple of days ago from my press trip to Argentina where I discovered that Malbec is no longer all made in a big heavy style but rather in a more refined and elegant fruit driven way, and this generally makes the good ones absolutely beautiful, although there’s still the big bold busters and it was good to down those ones with a generous side of famous Argentinian BBQ beef!
So below is our top 12 recent experiences on our journey into the discovery and enjoyment of wine. We would love to know what wine experiences you’ve been enjoying too so please don’t hold back!
Cheers,
Conrad

Looks like you had a ball in Argentina! Did you get to visit the highest vineyard in the world, belonging to Bodega Colomé in Cafayate? They make some fantastic, really unusual high altitude Malbec.

Had an absolute ball! Didn’t get up to Altura Maxima as it’s a whole day there and back but I did drink their wine, by Colome, at their Amalaya winery in Cafayate. We posted it in last weeks roundup – https://winewankers.com/2016/04/16/wine-a-palooza-the-best-wines-weve-drunk-this-week/

I love your photos. Great shot of the owl! I have been drinking this Chardonnay that I found recently. It’s buttery and delicious with anything.
Here’s a link to some reviews of it, but I think they have the origin info wrong. The circle on the left of the label says “Grands vins du Languedoc” so maybe you were just in the neighborhood?

Unfortunately, I don’t get to enjoy drinking wine anymore but I do still enjoy perusing the wine store aisles to search for something scrumptious for the wife. And I must say, your photographs are so awesome they hurt a little.

Using eggs to make wine…?

Yes, both the big cement eggs above that are used in fermentation and also real eggs used to fine and clarify red wine. Milk and Fish are often used too! 🙂

Nice pics. I’ve been drinking framboise, a raspberry wine. Does that count?
