I hope you’re sitting down because this wine is not cheap! At $225 a bottle, @darioushwinery 2012 DARIUS II is one of the more pricier cab/savs from the Napa (Mt Veeder sub region). Aged 20 months in 100% new Taransaud Chateau Traditional French oak barrels, it’s super concentrated and bursting with seductive berry fruits and espresso aromas. It’s a crime to drink this at such a young age – give it at least 10 years. Or better still, source a 15 year old version from an auction house for approx. the same price. Summer came early in Stockholm, so a picnic was in order, and this Premier Cru Burgundy was exactly what the doctor ordered! Aromas of jasmine and palate of crisp apple and stacks of minerality. Rully is located in the Côte Chalonnaise in Burgundy. The grapes for this wine come from the vineyard location Les Grésigny. Producer is Domaine Jean-Francois Protheau. More good #wine from #Argentina that wasn't just about #Malbec. The Lagarde #viognier was beautifully fragrant but not too intense with good depth of fruit going on and their Guarda #cabernetfranc was another example of how well Cab Franc can do in #Argentina. If you want the very best Prosecco (not the cheap shit) make sure you look out for the word 'Superiore' on the label, and also look out for wines from the DOCG region Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. @nyetimber is one of England’s premiere sparkling wine producers, and these guys were killing it at the recent London Wine Fair. And I must say, the quality is definitely there compared to Champagne. They stake so much of their reputation, that during 2012 (which was a shit year), they not only refused to make wine, they also refused to sell their grapes to anyone else! Now that’s a commitment!
