It used to be Jay Z's favourite Champagne before he threw his might behind @armanddebrignac, but he is missing out big time with the Cristal 2009 from @louisroederer_ ! The 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay blend is sporting ever so subtle characters with flavours that build up and up the moment it hits your palate! Nothing ever overpowers; the baked sweet biscuit, fig, quinces, lemon juice, nor the creamy palate. Interesting to note, Cristal is the only Champagne not to have a punt in its base, and because it is served in clear glass, it must be sold wrapped in cellophane so the delicate flavours will not become light affected. Dont hate me, but today I am in the beautiful Croatian island called Hvar, drinking the local wine (it's a tough life…). Million dollar yachts parked in the harbour and beautiful people everywhere! @bolneyestate is one of the English wine region’s true pioneers; having first planted grapes in 1972! One wine I thought was especially interesting came from a hybrid variety I had never heard of before coming to the Sussex region (just below London on the map). Bacchus is perfect for the growing climate and is considered to be the UK’s equivalent of a Sauvignon Blanc. I’m not a fan of Instagram and I rarely follow a blog simply because somebody followed me (thanks, btw), but I hit the little follow button the moment I saw what you write about. Who could resist enrolling one’s very own sommelier. I dated my last one, and lost his advice when the relationship didn’t work out (when I found out that he was actually living with another woman at the time, the wanker!).

I find myself drawn to sparkling reds currently – Aussie ones of course ! Any will do …. I like the sound of Cristal. Maybe for Christmas 🙂

I like the very dry whites, I lean toward mildly fruity flavors, and I’m savoring a Pinot Grigio. It’s a cheap California and it’s honestly delicious. Well, not right now. Right now I’m wishing there was another half a cup of coffee in the pot. I also like Sauvignon Blanc and sometimes a Chenin Blanc. Occasionally I’ll share my wife’s, she covers the reds (Burgundy, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and I really like a Malbec but can’t afford it very often) as we make a feeble attempt to maintain the per capita consumption.
